About us
Born into typical Goan families who love their xitt-kodi-nustem, two spirited gentlemen have embarked on a journey of encouraging Goan Paddy Cultivation. After working nearly two decades on the oil rigs in Australia for a French company, Neville Luis, decided to join hands with college buddy Stanley Fernandes who worked for a leading multi-national telecom company.
Always recounting their happy childhood days helping the labourers in their grandparents paddy fields,
Nev and Stan decided to cultivate an ancestral fallow field. This task proved challenging as they couldn’t
find labour to prepare the field. They then decided on using modern farming techniques which replace
labour with machinery. They encountered another obstacle-limited transplanting machines which were
already booked out. A lot of other farmers were also on the waiting list and some would be left
disappointed. Not the ones to be deterred, the boys decided to do their bit in helping the farmers,
besides fulfilling their own dreams. Under the guidance of pioneer farmer priest Fr. George Quadros, the
gents are making mechanized paddy cultivation a viable alternative to traditional farming.
Thus was born ‘Goencho Xetkar’, bringing meaning to the words of George Washington
“I would rather
be on my farm than be emperor of the world”
